Imagine a Devil tempting you with one of the most beautiful mountain ultras in Washington State, promising breathtaking views on every turn. You get to run along a narrow ridgeline on top of massive granite cliff bases, sweeping views of snow-capped peaks and thick forest valley below, a vantage point that offers 360-views of surrounding landscapes, alpine meadows and wildflowers, and huge rock formations extending out from the ground.

The price? Well, it’s held in Devil’s Inferno…

Welcome to the Devil's Gulch Ultra, an adventure that lures runners into a stunning yet formidable realm. Held in the middle of July in Wenatchee, Washington, where temperatures can soar close to 100 degrees, this race is not for the faint of heart. With only three full aid stations in the first 48 miles, the average distance between them stretches to around 16 miles, demanding endurance and self-sufficiency like never before.

On the surface, the race may appear manageable on the map—a mix of climbs and descents, with a long, steady climb to return home. It seems like a thrilling experience waiting to unfold. However, as Mike Tyson once famously said, "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth." In the fiery crucible of Devil's Inferno, runners quickly realize that this race is a true test of both physical prowess and mental fortitude.

Those who dare to venture into the Devil's Gulch Ultra will find themselves rewarded with an unparalleled journey through some of Mother Nature's most breathtaking landscapes. The narrow ridgeline offers a precarious yet exhilarating path, granting glimpses of Mother Nature's raw beauty at every turn. Snow-capped peaks rise majestically on the horizon, while the verdant valley below exudes an air of untamed wilderness.

As runners push forward, they'll be captivated by the vastness of the alpine meadows, adorned with vibrant wildflowers that paint the landscape with a kaleidoscope of colors. Gigantic rock formations, seemingly emerging from the very core of the earth, add a sense of ancient mystique to the terrain.

The Devil's Gulch Ultra beckons adventurers with the promise of incredible vistas and a communion with nature like no other. However, the race's grueling heat and challenging aid station distances serve as a constant reminder that the journey to revel in such beauty demands tenacity, resilience, and the willingness to confront the unexpected.
